The New York Police Department says one officer has been killed and eight others hurt in an early morning crash on a Bronx roadway.
Authorities say the 9 officers were in a police van around 5 a.m. Sunday heading to their work assignment. The single-vehicle crash took place on the Bruckner Expressway near Bryant Avenue in the Bronx.
One officer was pronounced dead at Lincoln Hospital. Police said the other eight officers were hospitalized in stable condition.
The circumstances of the crash were unclear. No identification for the officer has been released.

The last time I visited NY I was appalled to see how much they’re on their phones – talking and texting! So much that they don’t notice the common folk doing it!
