Following a kenos for shomrei shmitah held in Kibbutz Chafetz Chaim last week, HaGaon HaRav Simcha HaCohen Kook Shlita, mora d’asra of Rehovot and President of Yeshivas Maor HaTalmid met with HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky Shlita. Rav Kook as Rav Chaim Shlita if he could continue a bit more to be mechazeik the talmidim of the yeshiva in his city before returning home.

It is known that Rav Chaim limits his travels and maintains a rigid schedule, but he did agree to Rav Kook’s request to visit the yeshiva. The news of the imminent visit spread quickly through Rehovot and hundreds of talmidim, rabbonim and roshei yeshiva from the city were on hand for the special event.

After an uplifting maariv the tzibur was permitted to meet briefly with Rav Chaim to receive a bracha for a good year. Rav Chaim expressed satisfaction over the development and growth of the yeshivos and mosdos in the city thanks to the efforts of the mora d’asra, Rav Kook.
