President Reuven Rivlin is strongly against early elections, calling to take measures to prevent the collapse of the coalition government. The president made his remarks on Wednesday morning 22 Elul while visiting the W. Negev, communities in the Eshkol Regional Council region.
Mr. Rivlin spoke with members of the Sternberg family which boasts three generations living on the kibbutz. The family elder, Ben, moved to the area before the establishment of the state. The president praised the family who he explained were and remain willing to work the land despite the difficulties and danger associated with that decision. He added the difficulties faced in that region are a microcosm of the challenges facing Israel today. He lauded the fact that the area is one that attracts frum and non-frum as well as left and right-wing residents – all sharing a common vision, to settle the land.
The president used the media to send a call to coalition to do what must be done to avoid early elections, which Mr. Rivlin explained will be costly and not result in change. He added early elections will result in losing public support and trust in the democratic system.

Unfortunately, I believe that most people in Israel and around the world, have already lost faith in the democratic system.(In it’s current state).. early elections won’t change that fact.
The polls indicate the result will be the same as it is now.
Either Likud and the other nationalists will be able to form a coalition with the centrists parties (with whom they share similar economic and social views, but disagree on security matters), or with the hareidim (who have very different economic and social views, but will not object to the right-wing security agenda as long as they get an exemption from conscription).

Democracies are slowly winding down
For another decade or so they will go through all the motions
