After exhausting all avenues of obtaining a pardon, including from President Shimon Peres, former President Moshe Katsav is about to try his luck with newly-elected President Reuven Rivlin. Katsav was convicted of charges of assault against women and is serving a seven-year prison sentence. He has not expressed remorse for his actions as he still maintains his innocence.
The former president began serving his sentence at the end of 2011. Less than a year passed before he began filing requests for a pardon.
In his new request filed to Rivlin the former president will be stating that he has already served most of his term and he will also cite that in December he will turn 69 and his health is declining.
Without admitting to his crimes and expressing remorse the former president has little to no chance of a presidential pardon. Even if he does express remorse, the chances of a pardon are slim as Rivlin, like his predecessor, is well aware of the political ramifications of pardoning the first president of the state to ever be convicted of violent crimes.

He will never admitt, to actions he never committed.
This was, political character assassination. A tool the israeli establishment, has no qualms about resorting to frequeuntly and whenever they see fit to according to their warped under-handed standards.
G-d bless Katsav, and shame on those who fall for israeli estbalishment “accusations” leveled in their media. Shame on people who stupidly belive accusations againt: Yigal Amir, Deri, Katsav, Rav Berland etc. Just what sterling bastion of honesty and justice is the Israeli establishment and media that you believe a thing they say! Those rotten value-less snakes and murderers!
