The consumer world cheered in excitement as new products have been launched in the past few days. The iPhone 6 series and iWatch by Apple, and the groundbreaking new Mezonos Rye Bread by Pas Yisroel. “I don’t know which one to buy first…” exclaimed one local shopper, “but I think I can afford the Mezonos bread more easily.” Another shopper seemed disappointed when informed by supermarket staff that he would have to wait until leaving the store before consuming the bread. “I’ve never seen anyone that excited to bite into a new product before” said the checkout clerk. While the new Apple products will be available for sale in the coming weeks, Pas Yisroel Mezonos Rye is available now at your local grocery.

if it is authentic rye bread, it is by definition not mezonos. It is “authentic bread” or it is “mezonos” — and an ad in YWN should give the name of the hecksher (i.e. who is certifying this inauthentic bread as mezonos).
Great for a snack, for a meal I would ask my local rabbi.
Since there is no such thing in halacha as mezonos rye bread, maybe Pas Yisroel is guilty of false advertising claims? Hey Pas Yisroel people, ever hear of lifnei iver loh sitein michshol? Just adding apple juice doesn’t make it mezonos.

Halachic warning…. Before you bite into this delicious bread, be aware that many poskim maintain that if it looks like bread, tastes like bread, used like bread, it’s bread and therefore hamotzi. See Rav Forst’s and Rav Bodner’s respective volumes on Hilchos Brachos.

FYI, the OU won’t give hashgacha to bread claiming to be mezonos. Rabbi Yisroel Belsky has an audio shiur on the OU website in which he discusses so-called mezonos bread.
Which Rav is taking achrayis for this mishchol harabim in elul? They have been scamming us for years with mezonos bread. It’s all bogus am haratzus.
Calling it “bread” automatically means you have to wash and bench. The new phone on the other hand, is a novel product.

To my dear Jewish Brothers and Sisters,
It does not matter if you are kovea seuda (ask your rabbi) with mezonos bread or regular bread, you must wash and bench. Suppose you prepared a deli sandwich for yourself, which you will eat with a portion of cole slaw, potato salad, a pickle and an apple or banana. It might be that if the portions are large enough the “mezonos” status of your bread will be irrelevant.
Remember the shayloah regarding whether you must wash on 2 slices of pizza or 3 slices of pizza? That same type of halachic analysis applies here. Ask your rabbi.

Several customers in my store start to nosh on stuff they have not yet paid for, it is unseemly.
As the expression goes: “Its the greatest thing since sliced bread”.
Lemaaseh, if you are kovea a seuda, you must wash, make Hamotzie, and bentch. Apple juice doesn’t change anything. And its these same Chasidisha Hechsher people who say you cant eat Freihofer’s bread. Yeh. Ok.

Guys. Let’s be fair. If whole wheat bread and bagels can be mezonos, so can rye.

And btw all their other products happen to be very tasty so I would give this a shot and try, get to ur stores fast because my local grocery always sells out Pas Yisroel products, manager once told me he gets a delivery everyday and customers just grab them off the shelf….

There is no such thing as mezonos bread. Pas is not th only company that makes mezonos breads. Another company makes mezonos rolls. How do hechsharim allow it?
