The navy this morning, in two separate incidents, detained four Gaza fisherman for exceeding permitted fishing zone. They were taken to the Ashdod Naval Base.

Vehicle stopped for inspection in Shfaram tried to run over policeman. Pursuit followed. Driver apprehended and driver in his 20s was taken into custody along with a passenger in the vehicle. Policeman sustained light leg injury.

In light of the alarming increase in Arab violence in the eastern capital and attacks against the Jerusalem light rail, Minister of Public Security Yitzchak Aharonovich toured the affected areas with senior police commanders this morning.

The IAF has received its second new Hercules transport plane from the USA. The plane in Israel is called the Shimshon.

A rabid badger was found at the entrance of Kibbutz Shamir near Tzfas. Health Ministry officials report anyone that may have been in contact with the animal between August 24th and September 7th should phone 04-699-4257 or 04-699-4218 or a local hospital following business hours.

Brigadier-General Chaggai Tupolinsky replaces Major-General Orna Barvibai as the IDF Chief of Personnel. He is promoted to the rank of major-general when moving into the slot. As such, there is no longer a woman serving on the General Staff. Barvibai was the first woman in the IDF to hold the rank of major-general.

A terrorist imprisoned in Beersheva’s Eshel Prison took his own life by hanging. Violence may result.
