President Obama Building his Coalition Against ISIS

isis

While US President Barak Obama recently admitted he has not formulated a plan to combat ISIS, the White House has been busy over the weekend building its coalition to combat the blood-thirsty terror organization.

Speaking at a Wales press conference, Obama announced nine countries have joined the coalition alongside the US; Germany, Canada, Britain, Turkey, France, Italy, Poland, Australia and Denmark. These countries have agreed to battle ISIS alongside the USA, including a military commitment.

In a Wales press conference following a NATO summit the president added he expects Arab nations that have a Sunni majority to join the coalition as well.

The BBC reported over the weekend that Iran’s Ayatollah Khamenei has instructed the Revolutionary Guard to cooperate with the United States. In Jerusalem there are fears the US president will now view the Ayatollah as the good boy and he may earn points regarding his country’s quest to build an atom bomb. Minister of Strategic Affairs Dr. Yuval Steinitz is supposed to deliver the message carrying Israel’s concerns to the American leadership requesting not to connect Iran’s role against ISIS with Tehran’s tenacious quest to achieve nuclear independence.

America is also counting on Jordan to collect intelligence information on ISIS and that Saudi Arabia will fund a moderate Syrian opposition to combat ISIS too. Turkey, which is a NATO member has been tapped to increase its border presence to prevent the additional infiltration of ISIS combatants.

America plans to continue and increase its bombing missions against ISIS targets in N. Iraq but the US has not yet said anything about aerial assaults against ISIS in Syria. Many believe that will be Obama’s next move against ISIS. At present, the US is the only NATO nation using military force against ISIS. US Secretary of State John Kerry explained the goal of the military force is not just to prevent ISIS from spreading but to eradicate the organization.

In a related story, YNET reports on Sunday 12 Elul that foreign ministers of the Arab League are expected to approve cooperating with the United States against ISIS, basing the report on statements from Iraq’s foreign minister. It appears the Arab League will even back US-led military strikes against ISIS.
