The symptoms of a 28-year-old woman from Nigeria mimicked the deadly Ebola virus, leading to concern among Israeli health officials. Doctors learned on Shabbos that while her symptoms appears similar, she is not infected with the virus.

The woman was admitted to Shaare Zedek Medical Center with an intestinal tract infection and high fever. Her clinic picture was alarming similar to the outbreak of the virus in Africa, which now presents a global threat. After doctors learned the tourist arrived from Nigeria, their fears increased. Hospital officials were not taking chances, admitting the woman under isolation conditions until confirming she did not pose a threat.

Officials in Israel’s Health Ministry report all hospitals around the country have received a memo pertaining to how to address a suspected Ebola patient. The ministry adds that it is prepared to address patients found to be infected with virus as well.
