311 Callers To Get NYPD Callback

nypdn1New Yorkers who call 311 to report quality-of-life violations will get a call back from police asking if the problem was handled to their satisfaction.

The Daily News reports that the NYPD issued an order last month making it clear the department believes a little customer service could go a long way to improve community relations.

The Aug. 15 order states that the monitoring of 311 complaints “plays a vital role to the department’s mission of improving quality of life for the communities it serves.”

Police will contact 311 callers within one business day to ask if the police response solved the problem.

For repeat complaints about the same condition, callers will get a personal visit from a precinct officer.

  1. Great! Now the police are in the customer service business. No more crime fighting; they will be too busy making house calls. Smaller graduating classes. Increased regulation and monitoring (body cameras, no choke holds, etc.). Quality of life? What good is quality of life when you can’t walk in the streets? Rudy and Mike, we miss you. Mr. DeBlasio, please stay home, and let the cops do their job. Then there will be true quality of life in AND out of all our homes.

  2. And if you say it wasn’t resolved to your satisfaction, you’ll definitely get a visit, to make sure you don’t complain anymore, if you know what I mean.

  3. 311 is a call center that is suppost to accept anonymous calls. There are many times that a call wont be processed unless you give all your info.
Now, they are calling & visiting as well.
sure, How about some dunkin donuts & coffee?
