New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is picking up key endorsements from editorial boards and labor unions ahead of next week’s Democratic primary.
Cuomo was endorsed Tuesday by The New York Daily News, where the editorial board wrote that Cuomo had been a “superior governor” and deserves to win his matchup against Fordham University law professor Zephyr Teachout.
Cuomo and his running mate, former Buffalo congresswoman Kathy Hochul, also received the endorsements of The Buffalo News, the Transport Workers Union and 1199 SEIU, a union representing 275,000 health care workers.
Last week, The New York Times endorsed Teachout’s running mate, Tim Wu, in the lieutenant governor’s race. The paper’s editorial board sharply criticized Cuomo but made no endorsement in the governor’s race.
