With the ceasefire with Hamas being honored, Israel Railways has announced the resumption of service on the Sderot line. The first trains departed from Ashkelon on Thursday 2 Elul at 16:52. Train service was interrupted during Operation Protective Edge for fear of a rocket striking a train.
Minister of Transported Yisrael Katz consulted with IDF Homefront Command and other officials before giving the order to resume rail service. Service was halted on August 17th.
