B’chasdei Hashem, 25 days after being seriously wounded by terrorist gunfire in a Mr. Scopus, Yerushalayim terror attack, IDF soldier Sgt. Chen Schwartz was released from Hadassah Mt. Scopus Hospital on erev Shabbos 3 Elul. Schwartz was standing at a bus stop when a terrorist walked over to him and fired several rounds into his upper body at close range.

Schwartz was visibly emotional as he left the hospital escorted by loving family members. His mother Miri said “I feel a weight has been lifted. Chen is born anew”.

Prof. Ahmed Id who performed emergency surgery on Chen was among the well-wishers on hand. “I am emotional today seeing Chen being discharged” added the professor. Hospital Director Dr. Osnat Lev-Tzion added He has a long way to go but it is very moving to see him today”.
