Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon and IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz on Wednesday afternoon 2 Rosh Chodesh Elul toured the Chatzor Air Force Base, where they received a security briefing from Air Force Commander Major-General Amir Eshel and met with – inter alia –pilots and Iron Dome battery personnel.
In a conversation with pilots Prime Minister Netanyahu said, “The air force carried out its missions very well. You operated in a manner that inspires amazement; this was extraordinary. You reached the summit of achievements by the world’s air forces and there are new and unprecedented things here. There was a very major breakthrough here but the most important thing is that we have the tools to defend the country and attack the enemy. You have the nation’s gratitude.”

Israel is the only country in the world that requires women to serve in the armed forces.
Today, women make up 34% of all soldiers, 57% of all officers and 92% of positions in the IDF are available for female soldiers – numbers unparalleled worldwide. Additionally, eight times the number of women on active duty serve in reserves and females at the rank of Colonel has grown by 100% in the past decade.
