After Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu decided to accept the Egyptian-brokered ceasefire on Tuesday 1 Rosh Chodesh Elul without a cabinet vote, it became clear some of the ministers on the Security Cabinet were opposed. Minister Avigdor Lieberman, Naftali Bennett and Yitzchak Aharonovich spoke out calling for a ministerial vote.
This was followed by statements from Shas opposition party MK Eli Yishai, who said “the coalition was created in sin and Shas will not provide a lifeline”, referring to the coalition as faltering.
Yishai commented on cabinet leaks and the brewing storm that is expected to following the ceasefire.
