A 24-year-old man was arrested after police say he climbed to the top of the Brooklyn Bridge and took pictures with his smartphone. It was the second security breach at the span in less than a month.
Police say they spotted Yaroslav Kolchin ascending a cable beam from the Brooklyn side of the bridge at about 12:15 p.m. Sunday. They say the Manhattan resident reached the top of the tower and was seen taking photos as aviation and harbor units responded.
Kolchin then descended the same way. He was met by officers who arrested him on reckless endangerment, criminal trespass and other charges. It wasn’t clear if he had a lawyer.
A July 22 stunt in which two American flags were swiped from the bridge and replaced with white ones has raised questions about security on one of New York’s most visible landmarks.

But yet they haven’t found the person or persons responsible for illegaly flying the Hamas flag last week. Mayor Sharpton just doesn’t care.
They’re sick out there….and getting sicker!
I love that…. Mayor Diblazio, uh I mean Sharpton, I mean Mayor Diblablablasharpton. The Hamas flag he’s ok with…. sign of the times.
Why was it illegal to fly the flag?
Shuali:
It was “hung”/”attached” from the bridge. A permit is needed.
