Rami Levy Supermarket Chain Boycotts Turkey

tpmThe nationwide supermarket chain which bears his name, Rami Levy, will no longer be importing goods from Turkey in response to that country’s sharp turnaround in policy vis-à-vis Israel. Levy announced his supermarkets will no longer carry anything originating in Turkey.

This refers primarily to olive oil and textiles, which Levy’s stores buy from a middle man. His stores carry 2-2.5 million shekels of these products annually, but will now seek another source from a different country.

Levy signals a willingness to reconsider his decision if and when Turkey decides to change its tune regarding relations with Israel.

  1. I look up to people like this.not only does he talk the talk but he also walks the walk, to do this action when his livelihood could be hurt is greatness on his part many should follow, let’s show the world we ain’t scared we could also boycott

  2. Rami, you’re the best!
    Kol haKavod!
    Way to go!
If only you can offer one of your chik-chacks to get others to follow suit!
You’re an amazing person! We in Beitar know it best!
    Hooray Rami!

  3. Good for Rami Levy. We should all follow his example and not purchase goods from Turkey and complain to our grocer if they have any.

  4. I don’t live near a Rami Levy store, but from now on I will make the trip to Jerusalem to shop there. Bli Neder, I will “boycot” other supermarkets who continue to stock Turkish products. And I have urged my UK relatives & friends to boycot Tesco & Sainsbury’s who have pulled Israeli products from their shelves. The only way we can win this “war” is to hit them where it hurts…in their pockets.

Mr. Levy, you are an incredible human being (just look what you do for the poor & for our chayalim.) May you continue to reap Hashem’s blessings.

  5. Rami Levy deserves some credit ,in comparison with the billionare Ofer family (who behind the scenes predominate large parts of israel’s economy and policies ),whose ships were caught trading with Iran

but avoid getting carried away lest some will be force to eat their words
