In a meeting with leaders of the Ashkelon Coast Regional Council, Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman on Wednesday 17 Menachem Av explained that Hamas must return the remains of IDF soldiers Hadar Goldin and Oron Shaul HY”D, and if they do not agree, “the Hamas leadership must be eliminated”.
Lieberman feels Operation Protective Edge cannot be ended without the return of the soldiers, and if Hamas is unwilling to comply, then he feels Israel will hand over the bodies of Muhammad Deif and Ismail Haniyeh. Lieberman told local leaders that Israel cannot permit a war of attrition and therefore, a decisive victory is a must at this time.
During the operation Lieberman repeatedly called for a military victory over Hamas, insisting the only way to restore quiet to southern Israel is to bring Hamas to its knees, which includes the elimination of its leaders.

Mr. Lieberman, emor me’aat ve’hase masheu. Why are you setting yourself up for ridicule. You know Hamas will demand G-d knows how many prisoners in exchange. And Israel will go along with it. They always do. It is time to stop roaring like a paper tiger. Do whatever has to be done and then talk (brag) about it.
