Dog Elected Mayor in Minnesota?

CaptureYes this really happened. The following is via myfoxny.com

A small Minnesota village has a new mayor. Duke, the dog is Cormorant’s newest mayor.

The 12 people who live there elected the 7-year-old dog as its leader.

Duke may not understand politics too well but he’s been doing a great job guarding the town.

He even makes sure cars aren’t going past the speed limit.

Duke will be sworn in on Sunday.

He won’t be getting a salary, but a pet store has agreed to donate a year’s supply of food to reward Duke for his service.

  1. What’s the chiddush? There are many two-legged dogs heading political offices.

Had liberal Jews been behind this election they would have made sure to elect an “African-American” kind…

  2. Must be a really ruff job.

We have a dog as president (he said it, not me!!!) and in South Fallsburg they once elected the mashgiach as Fire Chief.

  3. by seeing how much kavod dogs get today – carriages, car seats, overshoulder bags to carry the dogs in and around, wardrobes, beds, birthday parties etc., – i expected this to happen…

couple o’ years ago, my father showed me an article about the reform movement started having “Bark Mitzvahs” for there dogs that turn thirteen… another reason to party

    very sad, i know

  4. Just two questions:

With which party is Duke affiliated?

Who ran against Duke, and what species was the opponent?

  5. Well, since most people like friendly dogs, this mayor-elect may turn out to be the most popular public official in history, possibly crossing all political and ethnic boundaries!
