Mayor Bill de Blasio will be absent as a who’s who of political and business leaders welcome the Democratic National Committee to Brooklyn in a bid for the 2016 convention.
Sen. Charles Schumer, Police Commissioner William Bratton and Barclays Center developer Bruce Ratner are among the notables scheduled to kick off the party’s visit Monday.
The city’s transportation commissioner, deputy mayor for economic development and city council speaker will also attend, along with Borough President Eric Adams and DNC chief executive Amy Dacey.
De Blasio will be in Manhattan around the same time, meeting with the U.S. Conference of Mayors’ Cities of Opportunity Task Force.
He’ll get a chance to woo the party’s site selection committee Monday night at a dinner at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
