New York City is testing its readiness to handle extreme summer weather.
Mayor Bill de Blasio and the heads of several agencies gathered at a command center in Brooklyn on Tuesday to run a series of drills.
The agencies, including the NYPD and the health department, practiced coordinating their responses.
They tested for a series of summer-based emergencies, such as soaring temperatures and devastating hurricanes.
De Blasio said extreme weather is becoming more common due to climate change.
He praised the response in a news conference after the drill at the gleaming headquarters of the Office of Emergency Management.
The mayor last week urged New Yorkers to have supplies ready in case they are forced to evacuate due to a storm.

Wow, Bill is such a great Mayor! What a hands on guy. Good thing they waited till his Honor got back from Italy. Did he ask Al Sharpton, first, if he was allowed to participate in the drill?
