Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon, IDF Southern District Commander Major-General Sammy Turgeman, IDF Homefront Commander Major-General Eyal Eizenkott and Prime Minister’s Office Director General Harel Locker, on Monday 8 Menachem Av, met at IDF Southern Command. Also present was the mayor of Sderot and regional council chairmen from the area adjacent to Gaza and updated them on the results of the military actions during Operation Protective Edge, including action to neutralize terrorist tunnels. It was agreed that Prime Minister’s Office Director General Locker would chair a team on the socio-economic development of the communities adjacent to the Gaza Strip in continuation of the area’s demographic growth since 2009.
Prime Minister Netanyahu commended the leadership shown by the council heads throughout the operation.
Attending the meeting were Shar HaNegev Regional Council Chairman Alon Schuster, Eshkol Regional Council Chairman Chaim Yellin, Ashkelon Coast Regional Council Chairman Yair Ferjean, S’dot Negev Regional Council Tamir Idan and Sderot Mayor Alon Davidi.
At the start of the meeting, Maj.-Gen. Turgeman said, “The reality in the area adjacent to Gaza vis-à-vis the attack tunnels is completely different than that which prevailed before the start of Operation Protective Edge. Hamas has lost a strategic capability that it took years to build and which was destroyed within weeks.”
Defense Minister Ya’alon added, “The issue of lifting the threat from the tunnels that we know about is nearing completion. We will also increase security for communities adjacent to Gaza. We are committed to restoring security to residents and this goal needs to lead to a process of expansion and growth for communities in the area adjacent to Gaza.”

I guess everything is from haShem and boy did He show it these past 30 days! Having the IDF go in to eliminate the rocket issue and the rabid dogs whose operation consumed their very existence to finding out about tunnels that were being constructed literally right beneath their feet and intelligence and to have nearly WE HOPE completely eliminated their functionality is amazing. Clearly the Yad haShem fought the war.
Furthermore, with the best intelligence in the world is it fathomable altogether that such construction was going on for years and they did not know!!! Further clear the Ribono Shel Oilam runs every detail of the world!!!
I submit that there be an exact accounting of all building material supplied to them by the world’s benefactors – the American tax dollar and the arab countries whose hearts will bleed for the poor Palestinians – to assure that the money is not going for their military and its terrorist activities. Think, if we had this in place last time would the tunnels have been built? Could they have succeeded?
