FINAL UPDATE 19:30: With the ceasefire in place it is our fervent hope that the quiet seen in Israel during recent hours will continue. As such, YWN closes the live blog and places “Operation Protective Edge” in our archives, hoping there will not be a need to reactivate it at a later date.

18:14: The IDF says that during Operation Protective Edge, 3,356 rockets were fired at Israel. 2,532 fell in open areas and 116 struck rural zones. The Iron Dome intercepted 578 rockets. The IDF hit 4,762 terrorist targets during the operation, killing 1,768 people. That number includes between 750-1,000 terrorists.

14:06: A security guard has been stabbed at the entrance to Maale Adumim. He  is reportedly in moderate condition. Follow the story.

10:44: 300 trucks heading into Gaza today.
• 160 trucks are carrying foods and medications.
• Since the start of Operation Protective Edge, 1,800 trucks carrying aid have entered Gaza.

10:41: The soldier shot and wounded in the tractor terror attack on Monday remains in serious/stable condition.

  • Arabs are holed up in al-Aqsa Mosque on Har Habayis.
  • Police are on hand. Har Habayis remains open to visitors.
  • Police will likely make arrests when the rioters leave the mosque.

10:40: 103 IDF soldiers remain hospitalized around the country, with 9 listed in serious condition, 34 moderate and the remainder light.

10:38: Violence was reported on Har Habayis earlier this morning as police were attacked by Arabs. The latter hurled stones and firebombs down at the Kosel.

10:20: A home in the PA village of Beit Sachur in the Beit Lechem district, sustained a direct hit in a pre-ceasefire rocket attack.

10:00: Airport officials held all flights between 07:00 – 08:15 in anticipation of rocket fire ahead of the start of the ceasefire.

09:59: Channel 10 corresponded Roy Sharon reports the last pre-ceasefire rocket fired to Gush Etzion landed 100 meters from the hitchhiking post that Gilad Shaar, Naftali Frenkel and Eyal Yifrach HY”D were kidnapped from.

09:50: Due to the rocket fire to Central Israel earlier, 19 flights were delayed at Ben-Gurion International Airport.

08:14: Thirty-two terror tunnels originating in Gaza traveling into Israeli territory have been destroyed by the IDF.

08:11: While PM Netanyahu announces the terrorist tunnel network has been dismantled, Hamas has clearly displayed its ability to fire rockets at will.

08:10: Magen David Adom Chief Eli Bin reports there are no fatalities or injuries in the massive rocket fire.
• Over 26 rockets fired in a few short minutes.
• Two rockets landed in an open area in the Shar HaNegev Council.
• One rocket was intercepted over the Ashkelon Coast Council.
• One rocket has landed in the Jerusalem Region.

08:07: Damage reported in a Shar HaNegev Regional Council community. A number of homes were damaged in that community. B’chasdei Hashem, despite massive rocket fire to many areas, there are no reports of fatalities or injuries at this time.

08:04: The Iron has intercepted four rockets in the southern Gush Dan area. Rockets also intercepted over the Merchavim and Ashdod regions.

08:00: The 72-hour ceasefire has begun. Undoubtedly, Hamas showing Israel it will fire the last round in the warfare.

08:00: Sirens sounding in many areas in the center of the country, the Ashdod district and Shvelah areas.

07:59: Rocket fire Rishon L’Tzion, Rehovot, Ramle, Ben Shemen, Lod, Ramle, Givat Brenner and many other cities and communities.

07:58: Hamas announces four rockets were fired towards Yerushalayim . Additional rocket fire to Ashdod region as well as Gaza border communities.

07:57: Sirens in Beit Shemesh, Maale Adumim, throughout Gush Etzion, and the Ashkelon region.

07:56: Sirens sounding in many yishuvim in Yehuda, including Kfar Etzion, Betar Illit and throughout Gush Etzion as well PA (Palestinian Authority) areas. Additional rocket fire to the Ashdod region. Additional rockets to the Ashkelon region.

07:54: Sirens sounding in the Yehuda area, once again another round in Ashdod, Beersheva, and those areas. Sirens continue to wail as the report is being typed.

07:53: Massive rocket fire throughout the Ashdod, Ashkelon and Beersheva areas. Sirens also sounding in Maale Adumim and areas around Yerushalayim.

07:50: Massive rocket fire in the entire Ashdod and Gaza border community areas.

07:48: Sirens sounding in Gilat, Tifrach and other Beersheva district areas.

07:48: IDF artillery fire directed to the location last rockets were fired from.

07:27: Police and border police in Yerushalayim on Monday arrested 27 Arabs involved in violent rioting. Since the murder of the Jerusalem Arab teen, 457 arrests were made and 160 criminal indictments have been filed.

07:22: The president of the International Red Cross will be visiting Gaza this morning to get a firsthand look at the situation. Gaza reports 1,870 people were killed during Operation Protective Edge and almost 10,000 were wounded. 500,000 Gazans are homeless.

07:14: Sirens are sounding in the Ashkelon and Gaza border community areas.

06:52: The 72-hour ceasefire is scheduled to begin at 08:00.
All IDF troops will be out of Gaza by that time.

00:48: Red alerts are now ringing in Ashkelon.

00:41: The IDF soldier who was shot in Monday’s terror attack in Yerushalayim at Mount Scopus, remains in serious condition. He has undergone two surgeries. His name for tehillim is not known.

00:30: Thousands attended the levaya of Rav Avrohom Wallis HY”D, 29, a member of the Toldos Aaron Kehilla, who was killed in Monday’s terror attack at Kikar Zvhill in yerushalayim.

00:07: Spain has temporarily frozen all arms exports to Israel over Gaza war.

00:03: A total of 63 rockets were fired from Gaza into israel on Monday. Nine rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome.

00:01: Hamas’s spokesperson has announced that the terror organization has agreed to the 72-hour ceasefire, which will begin on Tuesday morning at 8:00AM.

  1. Why r we supplying all of the food, meds, and other supplies to them. They should have left like we told them to. Let chamas pay for it. After all they r the ones that started and destroyed the place

  2. I live in EY B”H but I relied on YWN to get up to date info which I then shared. Thank you for your herculean efforts in getting the news out. You were my source of information & I knew it could be trusted.
