Mayor Bill de Blasio is extending his “deepest sympathy” to the family of a New York City man whose death was ruled to be caused by a police chokehold.
De Blasio issued a statement Friday shortly after the medical examiner ruled that Eric Garner’s death last month was a homicide.
The mayor also has reiterated his commitment to improving the relationship between minority communities and the police.
Garner, who is black, died after a white police officer placed him in a chokehold during an attempt to arrest the 43-year-old for selling untaxed, loose cigarettes.
The videotaped confrontation caused widespread outcry and calls by the Rev. Al Sharpton for federal prosecution.
Prosecutors are investigating.
Garner’s wife tells the Daily News she is thankful that “the truth is finally out.”

That’s funny. I don’t remember seeing Al Sharptons name on the ballot when I voted for Mayor. This means I’m a “disenfranchised” voter! Also, when was Al’s inauguration? I must of missed it.
DeBlasio/Bratton have completely caved in to this radical. With crime/murder on the rise in the City due to the ending of “stop & frisk”, expect it now to shoot up even more! Why would the average police officer even attempt to arrest anyone anymore? Their hands are completely tied. They are now recorded for every move they make. Even they even look at a black suspect the wrong way, they are suied for being a RACIST. Its all over! Back to the Dinkins days!
Hey DiBlasio, time to move back to your “white” neighborhood of Park Slope and let Sharpton move to his rightful home, Gracie Mansion!
