Press Secretary Rear Adm. John Kirby provided the following to YWN:
Earlier today, Secretary Hagel spoke with Israeli Minister of Defense Moshe Ya’alon regarding the situation in Gaza. Minister Ya’alon thanked Secretary Hagel for his support for the defense of Israel, particularly Iron Dome which is continuing to save countless Israeli lives. Secretary Hagel reiterated the United States’ support for Israel’s security and its right to defend itself. Secretary Hagel also expressed the United States’ continued concern about the rising number of Palestinian civilian deaths and loss of Israeli lives, as well as the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza.
Secretary Hagel stressed the need for a humanitarian ceasefire that ends hostilities and leads to a permanent cessation of hostilities based on the November 2012 ceasefire agreement, and reaffirmed the U.S. view that any process to resolve the crisis in Gaza in a lasting and meaningful way must lead to the disarmament of Hamas and all terrorist groups.

That and a metrocard will get you a ride on a subway. Now let’s see some action from Secretary Hagel.
Did Mr. Hagel dial the wrong number?
For a ceasefire he should have called Qatar and asked for Chicken Mashaal! Hiding in Qatar he’s the one that rejected calls for ceasefire! This administration just don’t get it! It’s so clear though! What drug do they take to see everything in reverse?
Such political double talk its very tough to read.
If the world wouldn’t be so overly concerned about the palestinen civilians death there wouldn’t be a war in the first place. This PR just gives Hamas the strength to use civilans as human shields and start the war. Ignore the civiliance and the war will stop at once.
#3: It’s standard political talk. All of the SecDefs readouts of his conversations with his foreign counterparts in all countries are similarly vague and content-free.
What matters are the facts on the ground. And, with regard to the Department of Defense, the ties to the Israeli Ministry of Defence are very strong at all levels.
