Arrest Made in the Assault Against an IDF Reservist in Beit Shemesh

4

Police report an arrest has been made in the Monday night assault against an IDF reservist by a chareidi male in Beit Shemesh. A 22-year-old man is in custody, suspected of attacking the soldier and damaging his vehicle.

The man wished to catch a maariv minyan in the neighborhood where soldiers are unwelcome. Not only wasn’t he permitted in the beis medrash, his car window was smashed.

Clearly the actions of the individual in custody are not representative of the chareidi tzibur at large, as many eye witnesses to the event ran to defend the reservist and some offered to pay for the damage to his vehicle. They were outraged over the event.

  1. A fitting sentence is to put this guy into IDF uniform and send him to the front lines. Then let’s see if he gives or takes a bullet.

There is precedent to doing this. Dovid Hamelech sent Uriah (husband of Bas Sheva) to the front.

  2. Sadly, many of those involved in prior attacks of this sort against soldiers and reservists in uniform have not been prosecuted and punished so there is a sense among these animals they can get away with such behavior. Hopefully, this is a sign that such action will no longer be tolerated and terrorists of any sort will be severely punished if found guilty.

  3. The issue is that the government in its zeal to prosecute is liable, as previously, to grab anyone, even if he was uninvolved, if they are unable to identify the real perp because they want to set an example.

#2: He might turn on his own comrades while they’re asleep.

I made an account just to answer this comment.

Dovid did that to cover up his act of adultery. He found a loophole so he took it.

  5. #2 you don’t even have to send him to the front. He should simply be forced to sit in beis madras and learn. Ooooooh brutal!

  6. To no. 7:
King david did not do an act that was not permissible. Uriah was sent to the front because he rebelled against the kingdom of David. Uriah gave a divorce to his wife prior to joining the army. The only reason why Hashem was not so happy about what he did, Hashem was expecting that King David will act in a way that is one million percent perfect.

I made an account just to respond to you! (gosh the passwords are long)
What you wrote was totally inappropriate and frankly i’m quite shocked that yeshivaworld posted it.
Your comment is a Zilzul in the Kovod of Dovid Hamelech and unless you do a sincere Teshuva I have no doubt that you are ‘asid leetain es hadin’ for writing such a thing in such a public forum.
Trust me, i truly realize that you have no reason to listen to me or to take me seriously in any way at all (and if you’d know who I was you’d probably take me even less seriously) but please think about it for a minute and i’m sure you yourself will feel bad about it. I think it would be appropriate for you to post an apology on this page.
It’s really a tremendous sin to speak down even about a simple Jew, so much more so about a Talmid Chochom; but regarding our prophets – there are no words with which to even begin…
The Talmud (perek Chelek) relates that an Amorah was scolded for speaking a little bit disrespectfully about King Menashe, who was one of the most wicked kings in our entire history. To speak disrespectfully about King David is truly a travesty! Its playing with fire! Please apologize!
    With love and respect,
    A saddened Jew

  8. Cello player jake=you’re a big mechutsef and am haaretz! See what chazal say about the man HaShem refers to as=ahi I and not hollywood!

  9. I have words….. These people should be sent back to where they came from. Most probably Europe. Are they even really Jews? I think we have NATZIS living amongst us enjoying the freedom that Hashem gives us through the very soldiers they attacked.
