MK Hanin Zoabi, who refused to refer to Hamas as a terrorist organization, preferring to view the terrorists as “freedom fighters”, has been suspended from the Knesset plenum sessions for six months.
The Arab MK, who participated in the Marvi Marmara and is now under investigation for insulting and assaulting police at anti-war protests, has finally been suspended due to the statements made to the media following the kidnapping of the kedoshim HY”D, Gilad Shaar, Naftali Frenkel and Eyal Yifrach.
Prior to the last Knesset election Zoabi was disqualified from running by the Central Election Committee, but that decision was appealed and overturned by the Supreme Court and she once again serves in Knesset.
The decision to suspend her was made by the Knesset Ethics Committee.
In a Tweet, MK Danny Danon writes this is the first step. He hopes the second step will be to oust her from Knesset and the third step is to see her in prison.
Meretz MK Esawi Frij calls the suspension a blow to Israeli democracy.
