Military police have been conducting a clandestine investigation into the source of spreading information and rumors via the popular WhatsApp application. The investigation included searching the phones of a number of soldiers. The investigation led to the arrest on Tuesday, 24 Tammuz of three soldiers and a civilian. The soldiers in custody are all in their compulsory service.

The soldiers received sensitive information in the framework of their military duties, abusing the information by disseminating it via the social media application. The civilian in custody had access to photos of coffins of soldiers in the framework of his work. He abused this information by posting it to the app as well.

The case is being turned over to the military prosecutor. Additional arrests in the case are likely.
