Thanks to alert Flatbush Shomrim members, three purse-snatchers that were targeting our area for the last few weeks are now behind bars.
Over the last few weeks, 5 women were brazenly attacked during the day from behind while walking along Ave. J and other community streets, their pocket books taken.
The NYPD 70th Pct. commander reached out to Flatbush Shomrim for assistance. They began daytime patrols searching for the perpetrators with no success, until a keen Shomrim volunteer spotted an attack about to happen on Ave. J and E. 26 St. Today, Tuesday, July 22.
The member was able to scare them off, and they then ran into their stolen car, which was seen at other attacks. The Shomrim member alerted the police and followed them, as they sped away at high speed hitting parked cars along the way. They stopped after being cornered by the Police and smashing into a tree on Ave. K and E. 36 St.
Two were arrested, while one fled, and was captured moments later on Nostrand and Ave. K.
Inspector DeBlasio, commander of the 70th Pct. expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Flatbush Shomrim volunteers.

Na! They’re not bad people! It’s just a form of art! It’s a little more violent than others because they had a bad upbringing. They’re good kids! Let them go but first tell them it’s not nice! Rubashkin – he’s a bad danger and a threat – should sit to rot but these kids are good kids just a bit misguided because of their childhood.
My understanding is that for the last two weeks many Shomrim volunteers spent mid day hours looking for these criminals while taking precious time away from their work to keep us safe. I couldn’t be prouder to be around these volunteers and may hashem continue to keep them safe and give them parnasah while they are doing their Chesed.
What is the “race” of the suspects?
