Lakewood: Flash Flooding Throughout Town Leaves Vehicles Stuck


imageParts of New Jersey are getting pounded today with torrential rain, strong winds and cloud-to-ground lightning strikes as a line of thunderstorms drifts across the state.

Heavy rains have caused severe flooding around Lakewood.

Chaveirim of Lakewood is reporting multiple streets around the town which are heavily flooded.

There are numerous reports of vehicle stuck in the high waters, and emergency personnel were called to help pull them out.

Drivers are urged to use caution when driving on water-covered roads. Driving through deep waters can severely damage your vehicle.

A flash-flood warning for parts of Monmouth County and northern Ocean County, effective until 8:30 p.m. The warning area includes Asbury Park, Long Branch and Sandy Hook in Monmouth and Brick, Jackson, Lakehurst, Lakewood, Manasquan, Mantoloking and Point Pleasant in Ocean.
