A 72-hour ceasefire began on Tisha B’Av morning amid much skepticism and concern. While the IDF has pulled all of its forces out of Gaza, many combatants remain on alert, aware the situation could change dramatically at a moment’s notice.
The Gaza border communities remain under the watchful eye of IDF forces, some residents signaling a willingness to return while others feel the situation is too dangerous and it does not permit return to life as usual.
The coming days will determine the course of events to some extent, and it is our tefilla these events will prove beneficial to Am Yisrael and Eretz Yisrael. The events in Eretz HaKodesh since the eve of 15 Sivan 5774, the kidnapping of the three kedoshim HY”D; Gilad Shaar, Naftali Frenkel and Eyal Yifrach was an awakening for the Jewish People forever. The outpouring of tefilos, showing of achdus and global concern for the fate of the boys elevated the Jewish People, and now, in retrospect, we see it also provided a bank overflowing with merit, as the miracles of the last month are obvious to all.
Many soldiers have made the ultimate sacrifice for the Jewish the day that Am Yisrael remembers the horrors of our past and daven for that ultimate day, we daven that the unity, understanding, mutual respect and caring that have been nurtured since 5 Sivan will continue to guide us as a living testimony, and that the tragedies of the last two months will become a life’s lesson. The example given to all by the parents of the three boys must not be forgotten; rather it must serve as a reference point for all when facing seemingly insurmountable challenges.
YWN continues to bring you real time coverage of the events in Eretz Yisrael as they unfold. With the declaration of the ceasefire and the withdrawal of troops, the newsroom will be reverting back to regular scheduling. If chas v’sholom warfare resumes, the live blog will once again go live, but for now, after 29 days of round-the-clock coverage, it is our fervent tefilla that the attacks against the resident of Israel will remain a thing of the past.
As we mourn the tragedies that have befallen the Jewish People on this day, we daven to HKBH that the sacrifices seen during recent weeks that led to achdus and tefilos will have elevated us sufficiently to merit the final redemption.
YWN thanks our dedicated team of veteran reporters around the world who worked literally 24 hours a day throughout the war, to ensure that our readers would have the latest, and most comprehensive news available.

Thank you YWN! Can we have a shout out to the reporters?
MAY THEIR BLOOD BE AVENGED..
PLEASE BRING THE GEULAH!!
ENOUGH WITH THE JEWISH BLOOD
Your coverage was the best available anywhere. Thank you so much for keeping us updated minute by minute.
Hashem should pay you guys back.
Thank you.
Yasher koach to YWN! And yasher koach to its readers whose comments are reflecting achdus and tolerance. May shalom – both in Eretz Yisrael and between all Jews – continue to remain strong! If anyone starts to post comments on this website that may engender machlokes of any kind, please try to stop it with your own comment -reminding the Klal that machlokes will only harm us and set us back further from Mashiach’s arrival. But with comments promoting achdus and tolerance we will bring much closer Mashiach’s arrival.
Thank you for your excellent job of bringing us the absolute latest breaking developments throughout this difficult time.
Thank you for the great, unfortunate, coverage. YWN was THEE go to place. Thank you for posting all names and ages of the soldiers that were killed. It gives us more tears to shed on this Tisha Ba’av.
May HKB”H continue to watch over and protect all of Klal Yisroel wherever they may be.
Thank you for keeping us informed and for your moving final post.
May we see the geulah b’karov.Amen.
Thank you YWN for your amazing coverage!
Sharty, #3, you stole my thunder!
YWN literally kept us on the front lines with their minute-after and minute-by-minute coverage! Thank you also for letting us voice our participation and feelings too!
May you only report good tidinges from now on!
Get ready for second-by-second coverage of the arrival of Moshiach!
I think this is the second time I’ve seen you use the date 5 sivan to refer to when the boys were kidnapped. 5 sivan is a day before shavuos and that was not at all when they were kidnapped. it was 15 sivan. just a technicality but seems important to correct.
It’s sounds like your saying the war is over isn’t just a 72 hour cease fire?
Thank you very much. YWN was were many events were reported first.
May we never have to need the 24 blogging again.
Thank you for your excellent coverage. I was on the phone updating my sisters in Yerushalayim many times on breaking news they hadn’t heard. Thank you also for the names, ages & pictures of our fallen soldiers. It’s that much more real when we focus on each individual. Looking forward to your upcoming coverage of mashiach’s arrival & binyan Bais Shelishi bimheira byameinu amein!
Totally agree with #3. YWN was the best coverage available online. Thank you!
Halevai it would indeed conclude the coverage of OPE and the 72 hours will become permanent and not a broken ceasefire as the past 6 times or more.
May you merit live coverage very soon of Mashiach’s coming.
Shkoyach YWN but why do i think this isn’t the last time we are hearing from these pera adom yemach Sh’mom.
Let’s not forget these mamzayrim still have two maysim in their possession.
Many soldiers have realized the YAD HASHEM and took upon them self to put on TEFILIN and SHMIRAS SHABBOS and more, now we need the government to realize YAD HASHEM take upon themself to support torah and large families so the next time around won’t have to happen.
#16 you said it well but left out some words
now we need the government to realize YAD HASHEM and take upon themselves to put on TEFILIN and SHMIRAS SHABBOS and more… HALEVEI!
To Seichel Brosh (#16):
The 2nd part of your comment is extremely sharp. Did you ask a Rav if it is okay to write such a comment?
You forgot to mention that many soldiers are wearing Tzitzis.
Thank you YWN for the dedication to blogging.
However, I think it is premature to say that you are ending the blogging. I do not trust those reshayim. You should have at least waited until chatzot hayom Wednesday when all the strictures of the three weeks end and then transition into bein hazmanim. Even then, if I were in charge there would be no announcement that the blogging is ending (al tiftach peh lasatan) but simply no entries in the blog which could be closed when the stability of the situation is proven.
By the way, I think it is important to have bein hazmanim vacations, circumstances permitting. There are many businesses whose parnossoh for the whole year is based on these few summer weeks.
Awsome coverage! Thx
Yo my ywn all good stuff thanks and hope we have good coverage from now on , peeeeeaaccceeeee
I see this list of 64 kedoshim and I am crying hysterically – I can’t help feeling that it is so unfair that they died when if we hadn’t worried so much about the civilians we could have bombed the way England bombed Germany, the way the US bombed Japan – of course Hashem runs the world, but it is just so devastating, all the almanos, yesomim, parents, siblings having to deal with such horror – and the wounded are no small shakes either – I heard one guy had half his face shot off………H’Y’D….
Yasher koach. I really appreciated the up to the minute updates. Hoping for long lasting silence from Gaza and long lasting achdus.
Now let Obama & United Nations {Moon} keep up their efforts of stopping bloodshed by applying at least as much pressure on Assad & Syria if not infinitely more pressure on Assad & Syria, since they have caused so much more bloodshed than ever happened in Gaza.
YWN is the best!!
3 things its is soo important to report that two days ago there were 67 babies born in one day that is keneged the 64 chayalim and 3 civilians this was at soroka..
i heard all the babies born were boys and i heard this is a first national record for eretz yisroel.
second make sure to post moshe feiglins debut interview on CNN
and number 3 make sure to note the difference between police and magavnikim they do different jobs different authorities and have different relationships with the populace one is blue police the other is homefront command
The Chasdei Hashem which resulted in so few civilians being killed or injured ia clear to see, and should be a message to all Klall Yisroel, of every persuation. As omeone remarked to me yesterday, ten times as many cows were killed than humans, that says it all. Thanks again to YWN for its live blog, even here in the UK it was the site that everyone turned to for accurate reporting – far, far better than the BBC or Sky or CNN!
