chnThe Ramle Magistrate Court on Monday, 16 Tammuz sentenced Nachman Stitzer to six months community service. Stitzer, a resident of Modi’in Illit, forget 4-year-old Chanoch Baumel in a vehicle, only to find his lifeless body hours later.

An indictment in the case was handed down a bit over a year ago. The defendant is a melamed in a talmud torah and in Elul 5773, he drove Chanoch Chaim Baumel and other children to the talmud torah. The horrific realization that Baumel was forgotten in the vehicle was made upon Stitzer’s return at 13:00, hours later.

The court was visibly moved by the behavior of the defendant and the family of the niftar and this led to a verdict which carried a large measure of rachamim, as he was not sent to prison. The court realized just how much Stitzer suffers for what occurred due to his actions, adding she hopes this case serves as a lesson to all since this was an avoidable death.

  1. The article is missing vivid description of his suffering.
I’m told he’s been hospitalized several times and hasn’t slept a night since the horrific accident. He’s an amazing person with a pristine reputation and hasn’t been psychologically able to work since then.
