FDNY: 2 Hurt In Transformer Incident Near Intrepid

intrep.jpgFire officials say two people suffered burns to their arms following “a transformer incident” near New York City’s the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.

A FDNY spokesman says the accident happened at 11:25 a.m. Tuesday on a pier near the Intrepid.

He says the two individuals got “some kind of shock” and were taken to a hospital.

A spokeswoman for the aircraft carrier-turned-museum says the victims were a museum employee and a volunteer. She says they were working to repair an outside power supply at the end of the pier.

A second employee was being evaluated at the scene.

The museum was already closed due to the outage that the employees were trying to fix.

The spokeswoman said the museum would remain closed for the rest of the day.
