Some might call it dense and others naïve, but following the Tuesday evening rocket attack aimed at Tel Aviv, many residents told the media they were surprised. They explained they understood that they should begin preparing bomb shelters and safe rooms but never imagined they were be targeted by rockets so early into the operation. In Rishon the residents were even more surprised, apparently convinced Hamas might only target Tel Avivians but not their humble city.
Whatever the case may be B’chasdei Hashem the rockets heading for Tel Aviv were intercepted by the Iron Dome after passing over Rishon L’Tzion. The official word has since been given for residents to open their shelters as well as City Hall giving the order to do the same for public shelters and underground parking lots.
The official Tel Aviv Android application has information and updates for residents. It provides a list of public shelters and opened underground parking lots. The same is true for the city’s website. City Hall has opened its situation room and the IDF Homefront Command has increased its operational alert status in the Gush Dan area.
In contradictory statements, Hamas officials told the media that future retaliations will be significantly harsher. The officials also said if Israel is willing, Hamas would discuss returning to the 2012 ceasefire.
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is quoted saying “Hamas chose to escalate the situation. We did not choose this fight, which will take time”.

How dare the Palestinians attack the “elite” in Tel Aviv and Rishon L’Tzion (both of which are considered by the Arabs to be zionist “settlements”).
