The New Jersey lawmakers investigating last year’s politically motivated traffic jams near the George Washington Bridge won’t hear from a top aide for Gov. Chris Christie this week after all.
Regina Egea had been subpoenaed to appear before a joint legislative committee on Tuesday. But the committee has canceled that hearing and said she is expected to testify on July 17 instead.
Christie has chosen Egea to be his next chief of staff. At the time of last September’s traffic jams, she was in charge of Christie’s authorities unit.
Her name was one of 13 on a list of possible witnesses to be called by the committee in coming months.
