Toronto Mayor Can’t Promise He Will Stay Sober

rob-ford-gestureToronto Mayor Rob Ford won’t guarantee he will stay sober if he’s re-elected, telling a radio show that people will just have to trust him.

Ford returned this week to City Council from two months in rehab. He said in an interview Friday on Newstalk 1010 that he can’t make promises about something over which he has “no control.”

Ford insisted that returning to lead Canada’s largest city and run for re-election Oct. 27 won’t compromise his recovery.

Ford said earlier this week that he’s used “every drug you can probably think of”. He blamed substance abuse for the racist and homophobic language he’s used.

His reign as mayor has been marred by revelations about his substance abuse. City Council stripped Ford of most of his powers last year.

  1. Seriously folks:
“he can’t make promises about something over which he has ‘no control’.”

“He blamed substance abuse for the racist and homophobic language he’s used.”

The only beings whose behavior is not in their control are animals and malachim. His statement amounts to one big denial of “free will”.
