Lawmakers Delay Hearing In Christie Bridge Probe

chrisLawmakers investigating the George Washington Bridge scandal have pushed back their next scheduled hearing featuring one of Gov. Chris Christie’s top aides.

Officials say Regina Egea’s testimony has been rescheduled from July 8 to July 17. Egea has been tapped as Christie’s next chief of staff.

Sen. Loretta Weinberg, co-chair of the joint legislative committee investigating the traffic scandal, says the change is due to scheduling conflicts.

Egea was in charge of Christie’s authorities unit last September when she received an email from a Port Authority of New York and New Jersey official suggesting the lane closures in Fort Lee may have been illegal.

Egea’s lawyer did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
