Speaking to the media on Tuesday morning 3 Tammuz, HaGaon HaRav Bentzion Mutzafi Shlita explained the boys, Gilad Shaar, Naftali Frenkel and Eyal Yifrach HY”D were chosen to be a kapora for Am Yisrael.
“This is a most difficult gezeira that was decided as a kapora for Am Yisrael” explained the rav, adding “These holy boys, the kedoshim, were selected as a kapora for the people. We were all awakened to do teshuvah, to do a tikun, to learn more Torah, to kedusha, tahara, and we call to soften the ‘Midas HaDin that has befallen us”.
The posek added “This is a very big עת רצון, an opportune time, a time when the three kedoshim are sacrificed, a churban Beis HaMikdash, a kapora for all, an awakening and a chizuk that began on the Shabbos on which we learned about the spies (Parshas Korach) until Parsha Balak where we are taught הֶן-עָם לְבָדָד יִשְׁכֹּן, וּבַגּוֹיִם לֹא יִתְחַשָּׁב (lo, it is a people that shall dwell alone, and shall not be reckoned among the nations),
This makes us unique from all the nations and together, united, we will march forward to greet Moshiach”.
The rav then turned to security forces with a message, telling them “We are Jews, Bnei Yisrael, we are sons of HKBH and remember His Name and he will be there to assist”.

Why do people talk as if they know the reasons for these matters. Of course anyone can make up an explanation, and since neither you nor I heard from HKB”H directly the reason, we have no way to confirm nor refute this statement.
What if I try my hand at this — “Such and such tragedy occurred because people talk too much during davening”. How does that sound? Or what about, “This or that tragedy occurred because women wear sheitels which are asur”? Or, what about “The tragedy occurred because many people don’t sing enough zemirose at their shabbos tables”.
Of course there is no way to confirm nor discredit these “explanations”. They all sound silly to me. I have never heard of a responsible gadol make such outlandish statements.
Msays,
Maharal pointed out that talking in shul during davening brought about Gezeras Tach v’Tat. Nothing good will come out of talking in shul, lack of tznius, lashon hara, and several other serious averos that people engage in. These are not silly issues.
Someone came back from a visit in Antwerp. He related that the only shul that survived intact during WWII was a very large one. He was told that it was in the merit of observing the shul’s policy of not talking during chazaras haShatz and leining. This is neither silly, nor outlanding.
To m. This great man is one of the gedolay hador , knows Kol hatorah kula do your research read his Sefarim .may god and the rabbi forgive you for your foolish and extremely naive comments. Don’t you know why we have nach and countless chazal teaching us why god brings about certain harsh gizeiros and the repercussions certain sins have?could it be that it’s hkbh himself telling us his ways ? Doesn’t hkbh himself tell us to listen to the gidolim and elders of the generation? Its attitude like yours that caused the egell , miraglim, etc I am a busy person and don’t have time to comment but I take the time out special for you bec I love you my fellow Jew .
M, I’m not sure if you noticed but he did not say why it happened. He merely stated that they are a Korban, which they are.
And yes, there might not be Nevua but we do have a Torah, and there are people around who study it. That is where we learn Darchei Hashem. There is a lot to learn from Torah giants if we aren’t busy teaching them.
