The Ministerial Law Committee has passed a bill that will require schools, kindergartens and restaurants throughout Israel to have an Epipen® or the like available in case of an anaphylactic reaction.
The bill was sponsored by MK (Yesh Atid) Yifat Kariv, who feels in the event of an anaphylactic reaction to a bee sting or a food allergy for example, an Epipen can be a life saver when minutes count.
The Epipen or the like is an auto injector containing a pre measured dose of epinephrine which is administered to reverse an anaphylactic reaction. The latter can in severe cases lead to death in a relatively short period of time. These automated injectors are also included in personal gas mask kits that were distributed to citizens by the IDF Homefront Command.
