State Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein wants ten of the terrorists released in the Shalit deal who have been re-arrested imprisoned anew. The attorney general says they violated the terms of their release. They were taken into custody during Operation Brothers Return.
The terrorists released in the Shalit deal in October 2011 were brought before a special parole board headed by a retired district court judge. They then received a presidential pardon from President Shimon Peres to permit their release for the return of captive IDF soldier Gilad Shalit. The state prosecutor now wants the ten placed back in jail for violating the terms of their early, release. The ten in question were all serving life sentences for their heinous acts of terrorism.
The ten in question agreed not to enter Yehuda or Shomron for three years following their release and not to engage in, support or assist any act of terrorism.
A total of 1,027 terrorists were released in return for the release of soldier Gilad Shalit, who was held by Hamas in Gaza.
