8 Percent Increase in Dairy Products Expected in Israel

tenuvaDespite increased government regulation over the dairy industry, dairy products in Israel are expected to cost 8% more in July, the nation’s dairy council announced. The reason given is the increased in cost of feed for livestock, which the council explains compromises a significant portion of the price of goods in the marketplace.

If the increase occurs as it appears it may, it will affect the price of regulated and unregulated goods.

About a half year ago the government lowered the price of white cheese and sour cream by 20% as they were taken under the cloak of government price control.

The increase is planned but at present, it does not appear to have final approval so it remains to be determined what exactly will occur.

  1. Food sales in Israel are monopolized. When the government allows food imports there will be competition in the marketplace and prices will come down.
Don’t expect it to happen because of the rampant corruption within Israeli society and government.
