The city is pulling trash bins off some Brooklyn streets in the hope that it will actually help keep them cleaner.
According to the Department of Sanitation, many residents are misusing their corner litter baskets and illegally dumping household garbage in them, despite having pick up at their homes.
Crews say that garbage often overflows and piles up as a result, but without the bins, people may be forced to keep the trash off the streets entirely.
Anyone caught illegally dumping household waste into the street garbage cans could face up to a $100 fine.

They think people forgot how to drop litter on the street?
Please! Don’t let them take Simcha Felder’s trash bins away!
Many of those dumping household waste in the corner litter baskets live above stores and their landlords don’t provide trash cans. The local electeds should look into this problem.
