The families of the abducted yeshiva students received support from a surprise source on Tuesday, 19 Sivan, the Israeli Druse community. The spiritual leader of that community, Sheikh Muafiq Tariff, sent a letter of support to the families in which he writes “your fate is our fate. The best of the Druse combatants and officers are taking part in the operation to bring the captives home.”
“This is an act of terrorism and there is no other term for it. This is an opportunity for solidarity with you and the nation’s security forces. The entire Druse community is praying for their release and stands at your side to assist and respond to any request.”

I suggest that Druse houses be checked now specifically. Perhaps this call is merely to divert suspicion from where the boys really are.

Israeli Druze are amongst the toughest and most loyal soldiers in the Israeli army, and the Druze community has always been pro-Israel, since the leaders of that community signed an agreement in the early days of the State throwing their lot in with the Jewish people. They consider themselves followers of Yisro, and see their role similar to that of Yisro’s – supporters of the Jewish people from the outside.
