MK Elkin: Lock Up Released Terrorists from Shalit Deal

shalit2Chairman of the Knesset Foreign Affairs & Defense Committee MK Ze’ev Elkin feels terrorists released in prison exchange deals should be placed back behind bars. Elkin told the media that Hamas must understand that if they perpetrate and act such as the kidnapping of the youths, they will have no place to hide.

Elkin is calling to “change the rules of play” regarding prisoner exchanges for captives. “The goal of the kidnapping is to compel the release of additional terrorists. For this they are willing to take the risk. We must do the opposite, that is to say when a kidnapping occurs, we must place Hamas terrorists who were released back behind bars. This week I suggested to the cabinet to lock up all the terrorists released in the Gilad Shalit deal. Some of them have already returned to their acts of terror. This should serve as deterrence to future kidnappings” Elkin explained.
