Israeli authorities opened the Kerem Shalom commercial crossing to Gaza on Monday morning 18 Sivan to permit importing essential goods into Gaza. While Southern District Commander Major-General Sami Turgeman opposed opening the supply gate to Gazans, the order came from the Ministry of Defense for reasons that are not being explained. The crossing was opened at 10:30. After it was learned that the order was a mistake, the crossing was shut at 13:30.

The crossings were shut after the abduction of the three youths to prevent moving them from the Hebron area where they are believed to be to Hamas controlled Gaza.
