MK (Likud/Beitenu) Ze’ev Elkin told Channel 2 News that not only does he support the No Parole Bill that would eliminate future terrorist exchange deals; he feels following the kidnapping, terrorists released in the Shalit deal should be locked up again, immediately.
Elkin explains that any Hamas terrorist released in the Gilad Shalit deal, numbering over 1,000 terrorists, should be taken back to prison immediately if Israel knows their whereabouts. Elkin feels this will show Hamas that not only do such acts not result in the release of terrorists; such acts will result in those who were released being locked up anew.
Responding to his remarks was the head of the Meretz left-wing opposition party, Zahava Gal-On. She blames the government’s failure to see the collapse of the diplomatic process and the continued killing of PA residents by IDF troops firing rubber and live ammunition. She explains that it was clear to her and her colleagues that the government policies was going to bring about a horrific response such as the kidnapping of the youths.
She stressed that she in no way seeks to justify the abduction of the innocent youths, but places the blame on Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and his government.

The Netanyahu government should never have given in to the political pressures and emotional blackmail by the Shalit family and their supporters. The horse is out of the barn…its too late to now try to round up over 1000 terrorists the Shalit family insisted should be released.
It might be too late to get them all, but it is possible to get many of them back. In the past the Israeli government refused to negotiate with terrorists: they send special forces without fearing other nations’ criticisms. The Europeans and Americans are mainly to blame for bringing pressure, yet these countries would use these methods if they wanted (probably less successfully than Israel). Who gave permission to go and kill Bin Laden? The USA has no superior rights to do this kind of thing. If the Israelis have detained the whole Hamas leadership of the West Bank, they need to use this to the full – and go and get some more from Gaza if necessary.
