Officials say a fatal crash involving two tractor-trailers on the George Washington Bridge’s eastbound upper level has caused delays.
The Port Authority says that the trucks crashed shortly before 2:30 a.m. Thursday.
Fire officials tell WNBC that one person was pronounced dead at the scene and there may be additional people hurt.
The Port Authority says several emergency crews have responded to the scene.
The eastbound lanes on the bridge’s upper level remain closed. The span’s other lanes are open, but drivers should expect delays.
New York City’s Office of Emergency Management has alerted drivers to take alternate routes.
