A large fire broke out on HaYarkon Street in Bnei Brak at about 23:00 on motzei Shavuos 5774. Firemen from Givatayim, Ramat Gan and Tel Aviv responded. Heavy smoke bellowed from the blaze that contained asbestos.
Hatzalah officials Uzi Barak reported the fire was in a one-story building with an asbestos roof that was used to store tires, clothing and electric bicycles. The fire spread due to strong winds.
The Israel Electric Company cut power to the area. The outage impacted Kol Chai Radio which is housed in a building near the fire. Broadcasting continued with a generator and support from its Jerusalem office. One fireman was injured in the blaze and his condition upon arrival at the hospital was reportedly light.
