500 Cameras to Give Us a Feeling of Security

cctvIsrael Police will be installing 500 additional security cameras around Yerushalayim at a cost of over 100 million shekels. According to reports, the cameras are intended to “give citizens an added feeling of security”.

Once again another benefit of the Oslo Agreement as the number assaults perpetrated by Arabs against Jews in the capital continues to rise. This in addition to sabotaging building gas lines and other new and unique ways to strike out at one’s enemy. In the Mount Scopus area between Hebrew University and the IDF base, the favorite method has become arson. In the French Hill area where Arabs have overrun the shopping center, it is simple harassment of women in the center as well as in area parks. At night they turn back to hurling firebombs at apartment buildings.

The new cameras will possibly prove effective in assisting police in apprehending suspects, but they are unlikely to prevent future attacks.
