8,000 Cops to Provide Security During Papal Visit to Jerusalem


mishPope Francis is scheduled to arrive in Israel on Sunday, 25 Iyar 5774 for a two-day visit. Israel Police Chief Yochanan Danino met on Sunday, 18 Iyar with the Vatican ambassador to Israel to finalize preparations. Danino announced 8,000 policepersons will be assigned to Operation White Cloak, the security operation for the visit.

The visit will result in the closure of the Kosel for a number of hours and the pope’s presence will result in street closures and delays in areas of the capital.
