The Ministry of Education filed a civil suit against Rochel Kedem, the math teacher who in 2009 leaked math bagrut [matriculation] exam questions. The ministry is suing Kedem for 5 million NIS. The suit was filed several months after the Haifa District Court sentenced Kedem to 250 hours of community service.

The court ruled that Kedem is in the rehab process and there is no need to harm her income. The court took into consideration that leaking the exam was not done for monetary profit. The state still feels that Kedem should be responsible for paying for the damages incurred as a result of her actions.

Because she was rated as a top math teacher, Kedem was selected to participate in designing the questions that would appear in the math bagrut.
